Jaspreet Singh, CEO of Briefs Media and host of “The Minority Mindset Show,” recently detailed in a GOBankingRates interview what assets should be held in a retirement portfolio. He explained what assets he holds, citing gold as part of his retirement portfolio.

“Since beginning my investment journey, I’ve diversified a bit. These numbers are estimates, but it’ll give you an idea of what I do,” Singh said. “About 55% of my investment portfolio is real estate, 25% is stocks. 18% are speculative investments (things like startups and crypto), and 2% is physical gold.”

Gold is part of Singh’s portfolio — should it be part of yours as well?

Should You Invest In Gold?

Gold, which is viewed as an inflation hedge, is particularly of interest to some investors in the current economic landscape. It is also generally considered a great diversification tool.

Singh is a proponent of investing in gold for protection. “Gold is your traditional inflationary hedge because gold has been used as real money for centuries,” Singh said in a Minority Mindset YouTube video. Everybody in the world, “whether you’re in India, China, Mexico, the United States,” knows the value of gold, Singh explained.

For him, gold is “another way … to save money.”

“I look at gold like real money. I don’t really care about what’s going on with the price of gold. I just look at it as a way for me to save some hard money,” he said in the video.

“And if the worst were to happen and I need to pick up and go somewhere else in the world, well, I could take my gold with me and I know that I could convert my gold for another sort of currency or money or whatever I needed to do. So this is my protection,” Singh continued.

According to Forbes Advisor, the price of gold as of April 24 was $2,315 per ounce — down 2.84% from a week ago and up 5.75% from one month ago.
